Beach

Immediately south of Zenith are three similar east-facing beaches all within Tomaree National Park. The first (NSW 225) lies at the base of Stephens Peak and is a 50 m long sandy beach wedged in a gap in the rocks and often awash at high tide and even absent following severe erosion. It can only be accessed on foot from the Wreck Beach car park. Wreck Beach (NSW 226) is located 100 m to the south and is a 200 m long sandy beach located at the end of a 500 m walking track from the backing streets. It usually has an attached bar with rips forming against the rocks during higher waves. Box Beach (NSW 227) lies 500 m further south and is 350 m long and the most accessible with a car park and a 200 m walkway to the beach. All three beaches are bordered by 100 m high conical headlands. Waves average 1 m and the beaches usually have a shallow attached bar or may be reflective during periods of low waves. Rips do however run out against the headlands whenever waves exceed 1 m.

Swimming

The main beaches usually receive waves averaging 1 m or less and are moderately safe for swimming. However higher seas produce strong rips against the rocks.

Surfing

Usually only shorebreak however during big east and southeast swell Fly Roads can provide rights breaking along the spit, while south winds blow offshore.

Fishing

There is beach and rock fishing off all the beaches, with Fly Roads also fished by professional fishermen. Be careful if crossing the spit when breached as fishers have been trapped by the tide.

General

4WD permitted on Fly Roads beach.
