Beach

Birubi Point beach (NSW 238) is a 400 m long southeast-facing sand beach bordered by the rocks of the point, together with rocks outcropping along and off the beach. Waves average over 1 m, and maintain three permanent rock-controlled rips. The beach is backed by a large car park, picnic area, fenced aboriginal midden and then the Birubi Point residential area that extends 1 km north to Anna Bay.

Swimming

A potentially hazardous beach especially during southerly waves when three rips are operating amongst the rocks. Stay on the bar and well away from the rocks.

Surfing

Too many rocks for safe surfing.

Fishing

Known to fishers as Cemetery Point both the rocks and the beach are popular and readily accessible spots.

General

Birubi Point marks the southern extent of the volcanic rocks that dominate the coast north to Broughton Island. It also marks the southern boundary of the contorted rocks of the New England fold belt, and north boundary of the more horizontally bedded rocks of the Sydney basin.
