Beach

The 2 km long Woonona-Bellambi beach (NSW 367) begins on the south side of Flat Rock and curves gently to the south toward Bellambi Point (Fig. 4.291). The point extends 1 km seaward, sheltering the southern end and causing the southern end of Bellambi to face northeast. This popular beach has two surf clubs, Woonona SLSC in the north founded in 1913 and Bellambi SLSC to the south founded in 1909. The beach is backed by a near continuous fenced foredune, breeched by a small central creek, and the larger southern Bellambi Creek and small lagoon, which flow out against the southern rocks. The coastal walk/bike way backs the foredune, with houses behind.

Swimming

Stay in the two patrolled areas between the flags as rips extend along most of the beach.

Surfing

Woonona and Bellambi are popular summer beaches with the beach breaks providing lefts and rights along the beach.

Fishing

Wide flat rock platforms at either end are readily accessible and popular, with the northern Woonona offering the best gutter. Shifting gutters are best also along the Woonona end on the beach, while Bellambi is best when the creek is flowing.
