Beach

Boulder Bay (NSW 661) is located 1 km to the south in a 70 m wide 300 m deep rocky bay. It contains a curving 90 m long east-facing steep cobble beach that grades into sand at low tide. Waves are reduced to about 0.5 m and surge up the reflective beach face (Fig. 4.421). It is backed and bordered by densely vegetated slopes, with a small creek draining across the northern end.

Swimming

All the beaches are relatively isolated and little used, so even while waves are usually low use care if swimming.

Surfing

No recognised spots.

Fishing

This section of coast offers a number of good rock fishing spots; ranging from safe in the bays to dangerous in exposed locations, with Kianinny used to head outside.

General

Tathra Head marks the beginning of 11 km of resilient rhyolite rocky shore, that trends south to Turingal Head. The shoreline is highly irregular, backed with densely vegetated slopes rising to 100 m and several small streams flowing though small valleys to the shore. Tucked into four of the small valleys are four pockets of sand and boulders (NSW 660-663), which when combined, occupy only 200 m (2%) of the shore. A good walking track runs the length of the shore providing foot access to all the beaches.
