Beach

Beach NSW 713 lies 2.5 km to the southeast, and consists of a veneer of sand up to 40 long located in a 60 m wide gap in the indented rock platforms. It faces southeast into the southerly waves and during big seas may be washed away to reveal a 15 m long boulder beach at its base. Even when present waves reach the back of the beach at high tide and a single rip drains the small embayment. There is a tidal pool on the southern rocks, while it is backed by 20 m high cliffs then steep vegetated slopes rising to 150 m. It is essentially inaccessible on foot, and moderate waves make even a boat approach hazardous.

Swimming

Only the Merrica River beach is suitable for recreation, however even here watch for the boundary rips if waves are breaking.

Surfing

Usually low spilling waves at Merrica River.

Fishing

Most fishers fish the rock shore from boats, with Merrica River offering the small river mouth and lagoon.

General

At the southern end of Wonboyn Beach begins an 8 km long section of steep east-facing rocky shore rising to 150 m High Table Ridge. Three small beaches are located along the shore (NSW 712-714) all within the nature reserve and only reasonably accessible by boat.
