Beach

The central portion of the bay has been infilled by up to 1.5 km of low beach ridge-cheniers-salt flat plain. Alaru Creek drains through the centre of the plain, with beach NT 228 to the south and NT 229 to the north. Beach NT 228 is a 2.6 km long, slightly curving, northwest-facing, low energy strip of high tide sand fronted by 800 m wide mud flats. It is backed by an inner chenier and extensive salt flats (Fig. 5.35) and abuts 20 m high bluffs at the western end, on top of which is a solitary house.
