Beach
The Palm Beach Point Beach is a 50 m long pocket of sand and rocks on the northern side of the point. It can be reached on foot down a steep slope from a walking track that skirts the top of the 40 m high point.
Swimming
Buchan is a relatively safe beach under normal low waves, with some low surf at low tide. The point beach is isolated and rocky.
Surfing
Best in strong Trades at mid to low tide, when a sloppy beach break is produced.
Fishing
Both beaches offer good rock fishing spots.
General
Buchan is highly visible as the first beach seen from the highway north of Cairns, while the Point Beach is only known to locals.
