Beach

Sandfly Beach (KI 53) is located 5 km southeast of Currie and is a relatively straight 900 m long west-southwest-facing sandy beach, bordered by irregular granite rocks and reefs, with scattered reefs extending up to 500 m offshore. The beach receives waves reduced to about 1.5 m, which maintain a steep sandy beach and a transverse bar and rip system with usually two beach rips associated with rock outcrops. It is backed by well vegetated massive Holocene dunes extending up to 3.3 km inland and to 104 m in height. The beach can be accessed in the north off the Badger Box Creek track.
