Beach

Seaford Beach, Life Saving Club and Pier are located just 250 m west of the railway station. This 4.5 km long section of the Frankston-Carrum Beach is not as popular as Frankston, but does attract a greater number of families, who prefer the more natural setting of a bush reserve that runs the length of the beach. The 150 m long pier and the lifesaving club, founded in 1919, provide the focus for this beach. It essentially has identical beach and bar characteristics as its neighbour Frankston, with an attached inner bar, and deeper, more parallel second and outer bars. The outer bar usually lies just off the end of the pier.

Swimming

The beach is relatively safe under calm and low wave conditions, with only the deeper water in the rip holes and between the bars providing a problem for children and non-swimmers. The biggest danger is the pier, as people have been injured by jumping off it and landing on the shallow bar crests.

Surfing

During strong westerlies, wind waves up to 2 m high break over the outer bars, providing sloppy beach breaks.

Fishing

The Pier is the most popular spot.

General

A long, sandy beach, backed by a naturally vegetated foredune and reserve, with the added attraction of the lifesaving club and pier. Very popular with families in summer.
