Beach

Beach WA 1990 commences on the northern side of the tidal creek and is a similar long narrow high tide beach that trends north for 1.4 km finally curving round to face south in lee of the protection of Tyron Point (Fig. 4.421). It is dominated by the near continuous calcarenite outcrops, with only the protected northern 200 m free of rocks. The calcarenite average 50-100 m in width grading into lower gradient rock and sand flats, the latter extending up to 2 km seaward. The beach is backed by a 100-300 m wide scarped foredune and dune-capped calcarenite barrier, which is backed by a mangrove-lined creek and salt flats, extending 1 km inland.
