Torarago Point extends for 1 km northeast of Boydtown Beach, with a series of reefs called Whale Spit continuing 500 m into the bay. Between the point and Brierly Point 2 km to the southeast are two small beaches, followed by the longer Whale Beach formed across the mouth of the Towamba River. The first beach (NSW 693) commences on the eastern side of the point and trends southeast for 220 m to the rocks of Moutrys Point. It is backed by vegetated slopes rising to 30 m and bordered by rocky point and platforms. Beach NSW 694 lies immediately to the east in a 40 m long gap in the rocks of Moutrys Point, with rock platforms to either side and the 20 m high bluffs of the point behind. Both beaches receive low refracted swell averaging 0.5-1 m which maintain a low tide terrace with usually small topographic rips against the boundary rocks, which intensify when waves exceed 1 m. read more
