One kilometre to the south is an open 1 km wide east-facing embayment largely filled with 100 ha Nadgee Lake. On the northern side of the bay is beach NSW 720N, a 200 m long pocket of sand wedged in between rock platforms and backing 15 m high bluffs. Waves average over 1 m and maintain a permanent rip against the southern rocks. The main Nadgee Lake beach (NSW 720) commences 150 m to the south and curves for 900 m to the southern rocks, and blocks the backing lake (Fig. 4.439). Twenty metre high heath covered headlands border the lake and beach. A rarely used 4WD track terminates on the northern headland, the southernmost vehicle track on the NSW coast. A low foredune backs the northern half, with the usually blocked lake entrance behind the southern half. It receives waves averaging 1-1.5 m and usually has a single bar, often detached from the beach and cut by 5-6 rips, including permanent rips against the headlands. A straight section of rocky coast runs south of Nadgee Lake with two small boulder beaches located 1.5 and 2 km south of the lake.
