Middle Head is located towards the middle of the southern shore of Rodds Bay. The head juts into Rodds Bay and is bordered by Seven Mile Creek to the west and Mangrove Bay to the east. Between the 10 m high, wooded, rocky headlands of Middle Head and Innes Head is a 700 m long, north facing beach (1440). The high tide beach is relatively steep and ends at a shelly, flat, 50 m wide low tide bar, with rocks and rock flats bordering each end. Some rocks also occur along the beach. Waves average less than 0.5 m during northerly winds, and calms are common. A small, grassy dune backs the beach, with an informal camping area behind that is accessible by boat or along a 4WD track.
