South of Kellys Beach, the coast trends roughly due south for 10 km to Elliott Heads, at the mouth of the Elliott River. Most of the shoreline consists of low basalt bluffs and boulders, with only four small pockets of sand.
Woongarra beach (1505) lies 2 km south of Kellys Beach and immediately south of a new residential development, with good access to the northern side of the 200 m long beach. The beach occupies a small depression, with a creek draining out across the southern end. It faces east and consists of a narrow high tide beach backed by a grassy foredune, with the low tide bar ending at continuous boulder flats that extend out to low tide. Consequently the beach can only be used for swimming at mid to high tide.
