Cow Bay is an open, east facing bay, containing three beaches separated by rocky spurs at high tide, but continuous at low tide. The main beach (686) is accessible via the Cow Bay Road and there is a car park and picnic area behind the centre of this beach. Trees hang over the back of the beach, providing shade as well as an attractive backdrop. The adjoining two northern beaches (684, 685) must be accessed on foot or by boat. All three beaches face east and receive waves averaging 0.5 m, which combines with the fine beach sand to maintain a wide, low gradient beach across which the surf breaks when the Trades are blowing. Besides the rocky spurs and boundary headlands, there are patches of coral reef off the middle and main beaches.
Beach Length: 0.5km
