Kirkville Hills is an 80 m high and 3 km wide hillock located 3 km south of Cape Richards, the northern tip of the island. The base of the hills are exposed to the higher waves of Shepherd Bay to the east and the calmer conditions of Missionary Bay to the west. These three beaches fringe the western base of the hills. All three are in a natural state, with no development and no access other than by boat or foot. The adjoining Two Sisters Beach (800) is 200 m long, faces north-west and is wedged in between rocky shore to the west and the several hundred metre wide, muddy and mangrove-fringed shore that extends for 2 km to the base of Cape Richards.
