At the southern end of Mission Beach, just past the boat ramp, rocks begin to litter the beach as 80 m high, densely vegetated, rocky slopes reach the coast. For 500 m these slopes separate Mission Beach from Lugger Bay. Along the base of the slopes are two small sand and rock beaches, known collectively as Lovers Beach. They are accessible from the Kennedy Track - a walking track that begins at the boat ramp and runs around the shore for 3.5 km to the Kennedy Bay picnic area.The main Lovers Beach (785) lies 200 m south of the boat ramp and is separated from South Mission Beach by 100 m of rocks and boulders. The beach itself is about 300 m long, faces east, receives waves usually less than 0.5 m high and consists of a high tide sand beach fronted by a sand and rock low tide beach. The second, smaller Lovers Beach (786) is another 300 m further on, beyond some more substantial rock platforms and rocks, and is just 100 m long, consisting of a similar high tide sand beach and low tide rocks. read more
