Lugger Bay (787) forms the southern end of the Mission Beach system. It is a 1.5 km long bay tucked in the shelter of Tam O’Shanter Point. It initially faces east, but curves right around to finally face due north. It is a protected, low energy beach consisting of a narrow high tide beach fronted by low tide sand flats that widen to 300 m in the southern corner. The beach is backed by a low, densely vegetated foredune, then cleared farm land, with the small Mile Creek exiting in the southern corner. A footbridge, part of the Kennedy Track, crosses the creek and provides access to Tam O’Shanter Point. read more
