The southern slopes of Archer Hill run down to an open, east facing bay. Along the northern end of the bay is a 250 m long strip of shallow sand, protected from the waves by a fringing coral reef. The protection is sufficient to permit mangroves to occupy the shore for 1.5 km south of the beach. The Archer Point Road runs just past the northern end of the beach where there are two parking areas. The beach initially consists of a narrow high tide beach fronted by 100 m wide tidal sand flats, which give way to wider tidal flats and then mangroves.
