Whalebone Beach is a 500 m strip of sand lying immediately north of Obree Point. The beach is backed by densely forested slopes that rise over 500 m. The tropical vegetation overhangs the low energy, narrow high tide beach, while at low tide the gently sloping beach and sand and reef flats extend 250 m out to the edge of the reef.
