On the south side of the boat harbour is the 500 m long southern Urangan Beach (1527). The beach is bordered in the north by the southern harbour wall and to the south by the start of the strait mangroves, at the small Moolyyir Creek mouth. The beach faces south-east into the strait and receives only low wind waves. These maintain a narrow, steep high tide beach and 200 m wide tidal flats, before the more dynamic tidal shoals and currents of the strait are encountered. The beach is backed by a shady reserve and caravan park, with a small boat ramp at the northern end.
