On the north-western tip of the head are two adjoining pockets of sand, totalling 50 m in length (1467). They are far enough out on the head to receive low ocean waves and each consists of a narrow, high tide cobble and sand beach fronted by a 50 m wide low tide bar, with rocks to either side. The channel veers to the north and misses this beach. The beach lies to the north and just below the headland car park.
