The south-eastern end of Facing Island consists of 3 km of south-east facing shore between East Point, the eastern tip of the island, and Gatcombe Head, the southern point. In between are two small bays bordered by rocky bluffs and low cliffs. Settlement Point is a protruding, 20 m high, grassy headland that has beaches to either side. To the east, between the point and rocks of East Point, are two sandy beaches. The first (F8) is 500 m long, faces east and is bordered by 500 m long East Point in the north and a smaller rocky point to the south, with intertidal rock reefs off the beach, apart from the central 100 m which is open to the sea. The second beach (F9) is 300 m long, also faces east and has continuous rock reefs along the beach, becoming more prominent at the small boundary points.
