The western side of Rodds Peninsula is a 3.5 km long, west facing shore containing Spit End in the south; low, rocky Flora Point in the centre; and Richards Point to the north, the northernmost point of the peninsula. Between Flora Point and Richards Point are four sandy beaches, which gradually become more exposed toward Richards Point. Richards Point beach (1446) extends west of the point for 800 m. It faces north, curving around to face north-west toward the point. It has a 50 m wide, low gradient high tide beach fronted by a 200 m wide bar in the west, which widens to 400 m wide sand and rock flats at the more protected eastern end. There are a few stunted mangroves over the flats in lee of the point. The beach is backed by a low, grass and casuarina-covered foredune. There is 4WD access to a shack at the point and the area is used as a fishing and holiday camp, although there are no facilities. Much of the point has been cleared and the low, grassy slopes run down to the rocks and beach.
