Beach 1442 is the main spit and is backed by a series of eight spits, that have been built by northerly waves pushing sand down into the entrance of the harbour. They have built the shoreline out up to 300 m and deposited the 1.6 km long, crenulate, west facing beach. The narrow high tide beach is fronted by 200 to 300 m wide, ridged sand flats, that are evidence of continuing sand movement down the spit. A small creek behind the beach is deflected to the south, exiting at the southern end of the beach. The spit and sand flats are attached to the rocks of the peninsula at their northern end.
Beach Length: 1.6km
General Hazard Rating: 1/10
