To the west of Agnes Island is an open, 3 km wide, north facing bay. It contains four beaches, all bordered by prominent headlands and backed by steeply rising, densely vegetated slopes, with the 1000 m high peak called The Thumb just 2 km to the west of the main beach. There is no development and no vehicle access to any of the beaches. Little Ramsey Bay (813) is 1.1 km long, faces north-east, is bordered by low, rocky headlands and backed by a 4 km long, V-shaped valley that ends at 1100 m high Mount Bowen. The beach consists of a narrow, moderately steep high tide beach fronted by a low tide bar up to 80 m wide. Waves average less than 0.5 m, producing a 30 m wide surf zone at high to low tide. Rips are usually absent, however wave height increases northward along the beach and a rip may run out against the northern rocks. Two creeks cross the beach, at each end, with a few mangroves in the southern creek. A low casuarina-covered foredune backs the beach.
Beach Length: 1.1km
