South of Carmila beach the coast continues on as a series of increasingly low energy beaches, bordered by numerous creeks and fronted by extensive intertidal sand flats, with mangroves increasing toward Clairview. While the highway runs just a few kilometres inland, there is only 4WD access to the coast just north of Clairview. Between Feather and Oaky Creeks is 15 km of coast consisting of five beaches, all bordered by creeks draining the backing Connors Range. The land between the highway and the coast increasingly gives way from sugar farms to cattle grazing areas. Flaggy Rock Creek beach (1201) runs from the southern side of Flaggy Rock Creek mouth for just 800 m to the mouth of smaller Stockyard Creek. Due to the presence of the creeks, the beach consists of two adjoining sets of beach ridge-recurved spits, with the whole beach system protruding 200 m into the sound. The entire barrier system is densely vegetated, with no development other than an access track from the coastal plain across some high tide salt flats to the southern side of Flaggy Rock Creek mouth, where a few shacks are located. The beach is fronted by 1 km wide tidal flats.
Beach Length: 0.8km
General Hazard Rating: 1/10
