South of Clairview the shoreline continues to decrease in wave energy, while increasing in tide range, as it enters the more protected shores of Broad Sound. The shoreline is a mixture of some higher ground, as outliers of the Connors Range form a few headlands including Clairview Bluff and North Red Bluff, with low-lying beaches and tidal flats in between. The highway runs a few kilometres inland and the coast is backed by grazing land and tidal flats, with no recognised vehicle access to the coast south of Clairview Bluff. Clairview Island is a straight, east-north-east facing, 4.5 km long, low island, consisting of a 30 m wide high tide beach (1212), backed by 50 to 200 m wide beach ridges and some spots of higher ground. Extensive mangrove and high tide salt flats are associated with the creeks that border each end. The only land access is across the salt flats. The island is fronted by 1.5 km of initially wave-ridged sand flats, then more tide-dominated sand ridges.
Beach Length: 4.5km
