Between Oaky Creek and Clairview is a 10 km section of east facing coast consisting of three beach ridge systems, before the coastal plain again dominates the shore at Clairview. The highway, which is 4 km inland at Oaky Creek, finally comes within 300 m of the coast at Clairview; the first time the coast is visible from the highway since Bowen, 270 km to the north, and the Gold Coast, 1850 km to the south.
Dry Creek beach (1206) is a slightly protruding, 1 km long beach and small beach ridge plain between Apple Tree and Dry Creeks. The 100 m wide plain is backed by high tide flats and then the scrubby coastal plain. It is fronted by a scattering of mangroves and 2 km wide tidal flats.
