Between Oaky Creek and Clairview is a 10 km section of east facing coast consisting of three beach ridge systems, before the coastal plain again dominates the shore at Clairview. The highway, which is 4 km inland at Oaky Creek, finally comes within 300 m of the coast at Clairview; the first time the coast is visible from the highway since Bowen, 270 km to the north, and the Gold Coast, 1850 km to the south.
Turner Hut Creek beach (1207) is another slightly protruding, 1.5 km long beach, with two 300 m long, vegetated sand spits at either end and the coastal plain reaching the centre. The beach is fronted by 2 km wide tidal flats. The railway runs just 300 m behind the beach and then the highway another 200 m to the west.
