Green Hill is a 50 m high hill that is surrounded by a number of beaches. Between the hill and the coast is a relatively new residential development containing about 100 housing sites. There is an 11 km long, sealed (then gravel) road from Ibibie on the highway to the settlement. This road provides access to five of the six beaches in this area. Beach 1180 occupies a 1 km wide, east facing bay, into which Knobler Creek drains against the northern headland. The beach extends for 1.5 km south of the creek mouth to the southern headland (Fig. 4.68). The protected nature of the bay, the beach and fringing rock flats all serve to lower waves in the bay, which has permitted it to largely fill with sand. The narrow high tide beach is backed by up to ten older beach ridges, extending 500 m inland, and fronted by 500 m wide intertidal sand flats and fringing rock flats. A vehicle track off the Green Hill Road runs out to the beach.
Beach Length: 1.5km
