Perpetua Point forms the northern entrance to the large, shallow Sarina Inlet, that has predominantly mangrove-fringed shores extending up to 10 km inland, where the sizeable Plane Creek flows into the system at Sarina. The inlet entrance is 2 km across, with a 50 m high peninsula ending at Freshwater Point forming the southern entrance. A 500 m long causeway across tidal flats links the peninsula with Armstrong beach. Between Perpetua and Freshwater Points are two low energy beaches in the inlet, three small, exposed sandy beaches, and the low energy Deception Inlet in Llewellyn Bay, located on the southern side of Freshwater Point. Deception Inlet lies 2 km north-west of Freshwater Point and faces south-south-east into Llewellyn Bay. The apparent inlet lies between two protruding, 50 m high, wooded headlands and is in fact a very low energy, 650 m long beach (1147) consisting of a narrow high tide beach, with fine sand to mud flats extending 400 m into the bay and mangroves fringing the base of the beach. The Freshwater Point Road runs a couple of hundred metres behind the beach and houses are being built between the road and the beach.
