Perpetua Point forms the northern entrance to the large, shallow Sarina Inlet, that has predominantly mangrove-fringed shores extending up to 10 km inland, where the sizeable Plane Creek flows into the system at Sarina. The inlet entrance is 2 km across, with a 50 m high peninsula ending at Freshwater Point forming the southern entrance. A 500 m long causeway across tidal flats links the peninsula with Armstrong beach. Between Perpetua and Freshwater Points are two low energy beaches in the inlet, three small, exposed sandy beaches, and the low energy Deception Inlet in Llewellyn Bay, located on the southern side of Freshwater Point. Mangroves dominate the shore on the south side of Sarina Inlet until the more exposed rocky shores of the peninsula are reached. Two kilometres due south of Perpetua Point is the beginning of a 900 m long, north facing, crenulate high tide sand beach (1143) fronted by some sand, but predominantly intertidal rock flats between 50 and 300 m wide. There is a vehicle track to the northern end of this beach that runs off the end of the main Freshwater Point Road. The land behind this beach was in the process of being subdivided in the mid 1990's and access may have improved by now.
