The 5 km of coast between Dempster and Hervey Creeks consists of a moderately undulating peninsula that has been cleared for grazing, with a farm access track to Ten Mile beach. Around the northern and eastern sides of the peninsula are three sandy beaches, with mangroves fringing the two creeks that form the western and southern boundaries. Apart from the access track there is no development and no facilities. Beach 1065 is a 1 km long, roughly north facing beach that curves around irregularly between two low points, with rocks outcropping along the beach. It is backed by land that rises to 30 m, and is fronted by a few clumps of mangroves and the tidal flats and channel of Dempster Creek.
