Midgeton is the only settlement on the western shores of Repulse Bay. There is nothing north (except the Laguna Quay Resort) until Conway beach, 20 km away, and nothing south until Seaforth, 27 km away. The lack of development of the bay reflects its remoteness from any major towns, the hilly interior (which diverts the highway up to 20 km inland), the dead-end and poor quality of many of the coastal access tracks and the low energy, shallow nature of the bay shore, that has precluded port development. The southern Dempster Creek beach (1064) lies immediately to the south and is a 900 m long, south-east facing, lower energy beach, with a high tide sandy beach including a few rock outcrops and sandy tidal flats that extend out to the main creek channel. The beach is bordered by 10 m high cleared headlands and there is a 1.5 km long vehicle track off the Midgeton Road to the back of the beach.
Beach Length: 0.9km
General Hazard Rating: 1/10
