Beach 1086 is the main island beach and site of the Newry Island Resort. It is 250 m long, faces east toward Outer Newry Island and consists of a 30 m wide high tide sand beach. The beach is bordered by rocky points and fronted by a 100 m wide sand flat, together with mangroves on the southern rock flats. The resort is located in amongst the trees, runs the length of the beach and is backed by a 95 m high, densely vegetated hill. A walking track circumnavigates the hill, leading to a picnic area on the south-west tip of the island.
