Between Shoal Point and Eimeo headland is an open, 4 km wide, east-north-east facing bay that contains three beaches - one at Shoal Point, the long Bucasia beach and the tidal Sunset Bay. Bucasia is one of Mackay’s northern beaches and is a popular residential, holiday and traveller destination. Shoal Point beach (1104) lies below the 20 m high bluff of the point and consists of a 30 m wide, low gradient high tide beach fronted by a 150 m wide intertidal bar, with rocks outcropping on each, particularly toward low tide. A gravel road off the Shoal Point road ends in a foreshore reserve at the northern end of the beach, with a second access track from the houses behind the southern end.
Beach Length: 0.5km
