Stanage Point is a substantial 700 m wide headland beyond which the coast trends south-east for 23 km to Macdonald Point. In between are a series of sandy beaches which gradually decrease in wave energy, owing to the increasing protection of Shoalwater Bay. The first three beaches lie between Stanage Point and a 20 m high headland 2 km to the south. The headland and backing land have been cleared for grazing, and farm tracks of the Stanage Bay property lead to each of the beaches. Beach 1259 is embayed by easterly extensions of the Corisande Hills, which rise to 140 m within 2 km of the coast. The 800 m long beach lies between two protruding, 20 m high cleared headlands. The beach faces north-east, is relatively straight and backed by a low, casuarina-covered foredune, with a small creek draining out across the southern end, and then cleared grazing land. The beach has a moderate gradient and is 80 m wide at low tide.
Beach Length: 0.8km
