Between Lucy Ravel Point and Pier Head is 4 km of rock-dominated shore, containing five small and relatively exposed sandy beaches around the point, and a boulder beach on the head. There are patches of cleared land around the point and a holiday shack overlooking beach 1243.
Pier Head beach (1245) lies 2 km further east on the north side of 105 m high Pier Head. The head is connected to the rest of the island by a narrow, 400 m long strip of boulders that is almost awash at high tide. The beach is a 200 m long, north facing, cobble-boulder beach wedged in between two rocky points.
