Deep in West Bight is a 1.8 km long, narrow, low energy beach (1281) fronted by sandy to muddy tidal flats up to 3 km wide. There are scattered mangroves on the inner tidal flats. The southernmost shore of the bight gives way to a wide fringe of mangroves. The beach is accessible at either end via tracks from the Stanage Bay Road, however there is no development and the southern half of the beach lies in the Shoalwater Bay Military Reserve. The beach is backed by 300 to 400 m of low beach ridges, which are crossed by a small creek that drains out at the southern end of the beach.
