Between Bremner and Hawkings Points on the south-east coast of the island is a broad, 4 km wide bay containing the two larger Geoffrey and Nelly Bays, and the smaller Rocky Bay. All three are contained within prominent granitic headlands, with Hawkings Point rising to 90 m. The main island road from Picnic Bay to Horseshoe Bay runs along the shores of the two main bays and close to Rocky Bay, providing good access to all three. Geoffrey Bay (MT6) is a 1 km long, south-east facing bay containing a straight, sandy, steep, narrow high tide beach, fronted by a continuous fringing coral reef that widens from 50 m in the west to over 300 m against the eastern Bremner Point. The entire bay is a marine park. The main road runs along behind the beach, and the Arcadia residential settlement extends for 500 m in from the eastern half of the bay. There is a narrow road out along Bremner Point to a small jetty and boat ramp. Waves are usually low at high tide and calm at low tide as the reef becomes exposed.
