The 5 km of coast south of the western side of Cape Cleveland arches around in a broad, west facing bay, with a shore consisting of prominent granite slopes and headlands and three beaches; the longest, Long Beach, is 1.5 km in length. There is no access to these beaches other than by boat at high tide or on foot from the Cape Ferguson Road 20 km to the south.
Long Beach (872) faces north-west and swings around in a gentle arc between two granite headlands. The beach is 10 to 20 m wide at high tide, fronting a 1.5 km long, low, grassy beach ridge, with extensive tidal flats extending up to 1 km off the beach, that are exposed at low tide. In addition, mangroves fringe the northern end of the low energy beach. There are a few shacks at the southern end, with two small creeks draining across either end of the beach.
