At the western end of Pioneer Bay, 3 km north-west of Cannonvale, are two small high tide beaches both located at the heads of small valleys. The valley behind beach 1012 has been cleared and there are a couple of houses just behind the beach, with mangroves fringing the small creek where it flows out at the northern end of the beach. Beach 1013 is similar but fronts an uncleared valley. Both beaches face east, are approximately 100 m long and consist of a high tide sandy-cobble beach fronted by low tide rock flats, with fringing mangroves.
