North of the Sinclaire Bay beach ridges, the coast trends north for 5 km to Cape Gloucester then turns and heads east. This shoreline surrounds a 15 km2, 400 m high series of hills that link to the mainland at Dingo Beach. Around the base of the hills are the two Sinclaire Bay beaches, then a series of 11 beaches between the bay and Dingo Beach. All are low energy, generally face west to north and are well protected by their orientation and Gloucester Island, which lies 1 km immediately north of Cape Gloucester. A vehicle track from Dingo Beach runs to Sinclaire Bay then up the coast to Cape Gloucester.
Beach 981 lies beyond a low, rocky point and consists of a crenulate, 1 km long, north-east facing, low energy beach, with a continuous high tide sand beach fronted by both rocks and a few mangroves, then 400 to 500 m wide sand-rock flats.
