The shore south of Cow Island trends south-east and 2 km south of the island it contains a 300 m long high tide boulder beach (1031), fronted by a low tide rock flat. One kilometre further on is the western shore of Puritan Bay - a 1.5 km wide, 1 km deep, north-east facing bay. The entire 1.2 km long shoreline curves around inside the bay and consists of a steep high tide cobble beach (1032) fronted by a mixture of cobbles, boulders and sand flats up to 300 m wide, together with a patch of coral reef toward the eastern end. Two small creeks drain out across the beach depositing small cobble deltas on the shore.
