The western shore of Upstart Bay has four beaches between the southern channel of the Burdekin River, Groper Creek and Molongle Creek. All four are accessible by vehicle and have some degree of fishing shack and holiday settlements.
Molongle Creek Beach (901) is a 700 m long strip of north facing sand formed on the east side of the creek mouth. It consists of a narrow high tide beach fronted by the extensive tidal flats of the creek mouth, that extend 1 km into the bay. There is a boat ramp behind the beach, accessible by a road from the highway, 7 km to the south. The Molongle Boat Club has recently developed a marina in the creek mouth, which includes a dredged channel for boat operations at low tide. The beach remains in a natural state.
