Canecutters Beach (1028) is the traditional site where the canecutters and now farmers spend their holidays, setting up camps in the casuarina trees that back the 250 m long beach. Otherwise it is usually empty and only accessible by boat. The south-east facing beach lies only 1 km from busy Shute Harbour, but is largely bypassed by tourists. It is one of the few sandy mainland beaches and has a narrow, sandy high tide beach, a 50 m wide, sandy intertidal flat, then 500 m wide sand and rock flats that are exposed at low tide.
Beach Length: 0.25km
General Hazard Rating: 1/10
