West of Point James is a straight, south-southwest facing 5.4 km long high energy beach (1310) backed by a foredune system, then the active Bielamah sandhills, which extend up to 1.5 km inland. The beach has strong beach rips located about every 400 m along the beach, with a deep trough off the bar and a beachrock reef paralleling the beach between 300 m in the east to 500 m off the beach in the west. Waves break over the reef and a few strong reef-controlled rips flow well seaward. 4WD tracks reaches each end of the beach and skirt the rear of the dune system.
Beach Length: 5.4km
General Hazard Rating: 8/10
