Main beach (1039) is the focus of most recreational activities in Elliston. The road into town terminates at the bluff between Boord and Main beaches, with a car park behind the southern end of Main Beach, fronted by a concrete-beach boat ramp. The 1 km long beach is composed of finer sand and has low gradient, with a firm surface, and shallow water off the beach (Fig. 4.154). It faces west then southwest, and terminates at the northern bluffs, which are the site of 300 m long Elliston jetty.
