Wellesley beach (1041) lies tucked in behind Wellesley Point, which protrude for 200 m into the bay from the western end, of the 500 m long beach. The beach faces southeast, and is well protected from waves entering the bay. As a result waves average 0.5 m at the beach, increasing slightly in size toward the east. The beach is usually moderately steep, with deeper seagrass covered sand right off the beach.
